To boost ratings, the corporate sponsors pair Kotetsu with handsome, charming, and instantly popular rookie Barnaby Brooks Jr. Not surprisingly, they get on each other's nerves. Barnaby dismisses Kotetsu as over the hill; Kotetsu annoys Barnaby by addressing him as "Bunny." The mismatched pair are finally learning to work as a team when Ourobouros, a mysterious crime syndicate responsible for the murder of Barnaby's parents, attacks Stern Bild City. The filmmakers provide plenty of mecha battles and weird villains, but they leaven the action with a generous dollop of slapstick comedy. Barnaby embodies the handsome young hero of adventure anime, but his single-minded quest to avenge his parents gives him more depth.
