The Starrett 800A square-head nail set punch is 4" long and has a 1/32" diameter tapered point. The square head provides a flat striking surface and prevents the punch from rolling when placed on a work surface. The punch has a tempered steel shank for strength and a hardened steel point for wear resistance. The shank is round and knurled for grip.
Nail set punches are used to drive a nail flush with its mounting surface without leaving marks. Manual punch hand tools have a metal shank and a shaped or flat point that is typically tapped with a ball-peen hammer.
