I design, carve, and cast the medals myself (they're copyrighted). The medals are made of lead-free pewter and have designs on both sides. The pendant comes with a jump ring (see photo 1), so it can easily be attached to any chain you have. This listing is for the pendant alone, but it does come with a split ring so it can also be used on a key chain (see photo of packaging). Each medal comes in a felt jewelry pouch with a history card that states: "Pilgrimages are spiritual retreats or quests in motion. One of the oldest and most famous Christian pilgrimages is El Camino de Santiago (the Way of St. James). In the Middle Ages half a million people made the months-long, arduous journey from points in France to the Cathedral of Santiago in Compostela, Spain. Today, thousands of people each year make the journey, walking (sometimes running) across the same paths people have been taking for eight hundred years and sharing their predecessors' goal of insight into themselves and their spirituality. This medal, hand carved and cast by Hank Schlau, shows St. James walking, his name (Sant Iago) flanking him. On the back of the medal is a shell, a symbol of the ancient Christian Way." Dimensions: 7/8 inches high x 3/4 inches wide x 3/16 deep." The pendant is also available on a chain in a separate listing. (Search for "James" here in our Amazon shop, and it will come up.)
