Patron saint for those with stressful jobs/occupations: St. Walter of Pontoise. This handmade medal depicts Walter at his desk, gazing out toward distant fields and hills. The medal is meant to be worn, carried in a pocket, or used on a key chain (the piece comes with a split ring to attach to a key chain), as a reminder that the person in a stressful job has a companion in St. Walter, who also bore with many demands. I design, carve, and cast the pieces myself. The medal comes with a jump ring attached (see photos), making it easy to put it on any chain. The piece comes in a jewelry pouch with a history card stating: "Walter (1030-95) was the abbot of the monastery at Pontoise, a position of considerable stress: he oversaw the monks, building projects, finances.... But he longed for solitude and peace. He tried several times to flee from his duties, once walking to Rome to ask Pope Gregory VII to be released from the job. The pope, knowing Walter's skills, sent him back to work. Finally, Walter made peace with himself and became an example and companion to all who have stressful jobs, realizing that his work was of benefit to many and that the best way ahead was to integrate his work and his other callings. This medal of Walter was handmade at In the Co. Of Saints in Covington, LA."
