Lychnis coronaria is known as Rose Campion, and it is an old-fashioned favorite for the perennial flower garden. It has 1 inch blooms that range in shades of rose and red. The foliage is branching, forming a rounded mound of silver-gray leaves and stems. The blooms can last all summer long. It is known as being a hardy plant, tolerating poor soils and drought once it is established. Start the seeds indoors 6 8 weeks before the end of frost season.
