Mattel Bubble Fairy Barbie

This doll is decked out in a beautiful pink iridescent dress with coordinating slippers. She comes with a petal cup (dipping tray), bubble solution, two wands, and the very important clear plastic skirt ring. Ideally, you would attach bubble wands to each of Barbie's wrists, dip the wands in bubble solution, pull the star cord on her back, and watch her spin 'round and 'round as a cloud of beautiful bubbles surrounds you. Unfortunately, it didn't work quite so smoothly for us. Tip: Be sure to read all of the instructions before you begin, or you could miss the finer functional points of this toy; for example, without the small clear plastic skirt band, which you affix around her waist and under her skirt, her spinning cord gets tangled around her waist. But even then, in our test Bubble Fairy was bubble free; she merely sprinkled bubble solution as she spun 'round. For true bubble satisfaction, it works best if you help Barbie out by blowing bubbles the old-fashioned way: dip the wand in the solution and blow. Note that wands tend to fall off if not securely attached, especially when drenched in bubble solution. --Melissa Wilson
