In 1999, Florida suffered a series of devastating wildfires that burned from the spring until late August. Thousands of lives were disrupted, entire towns were evacuated, and firefighters from across the nation were called in to help fight the inferno. FIRESTORM is an all-encompassing look at Florida's season of flame, following the crisis from the first sparks to the dying embers. In over 30 interviews, we hear the stories that emerged from the flames--of the hardships suffered by the residents of Waldo, of the struggles of bulldozer operators who dug a 250-mile fire containment trench, of the helicopter pilots who spent day after day dousing the inferno from above. Front-line footage shows the devastation as it happened, and we'll experience the relief and sorrow as evacuated residents return to their homes--or their remains.
