Haydn- String Quartets Op.54

Haydn s opus 54 quartets fit the archetype of the Classical quartet, but expand the emotional and harmonic language in fascinating ways. The usual wit, humor and drama are in evidence as always, but here Haydn introduces new moods - offering music that is at times seductive and mysterious. The Párkányí Quartet delve deep into this expanded palette, bringing out every nuance. The quartets of opus 44 were written at the height of Mendelssohn s career.
