There are more than 15 types of saffron crocus bulbs around the world, but the Mongra variant is often considered the most superior threads due to the sweet aroma and vivid coloring strength. This saffron has some of the highest levels of Safranal, Crocin, Picrocrocin which gives saffron threads its intense red color and rich aroma. It is harvested in small volumes once every year, making it one of the most expensive safron in the world as annual production is limited to 2500 kg which is less than 1% of the worlds saffron production
