László Lajtha (1892 1963) is one of the greatest Hungarian composers of the first half of the 20th century, a contemporary of Bartók and Kodály known as a collector of folk music in the 1910s. His international career as a composer began in 1929 with the award of the Coolidge Prize for his Third String Quartet.
