Written by and starring Matt Lucas and David Walliams of Little Britain fame, the comedy duo play almost 50 characters between them in this eagerly anticipated return to television with a hilarious mockumentary series set in an airport terminal. From flight crew to check-in, from paparazzi to passengers, and from catering staff to immigration, Matt Lucas and David Walliams take a side-splitting view of Britain's busiest airport and the people who work in and pass through it every day. Characters include scandal-prone charmer Omar Baba, the owner of FlyLo, Britain's eighth favorite low cost airline, Taaj, who is more interested in whether the documentary crew are filming in 3D than he is in doing the job, the perky check-in staff Melody and Keeley, Precious Little a jolly, busty West Indian lady who works at the coffee kiosk, Ian Foot the patriotic Chief Immigration Officer, whose keen eye for illegal foreigners is only tempered by his lack of geographical knowledge "There's no such country as Liberia" and more!
Amazon.com Matt Lucas and David Walliams, the writer-performers behind the BBC's Little Britain, take on the inconveniences of air travel in this reality-style sitcom. The satire centers on three companies: FlyLo, Our Lady Air, and Great British Air. As a posh narrator ( Rome's Lindsay Duncan) describes the action on the ground and in the skies, the duo play 16 recurring characters of both genders and various races, from a put-upon passenger liaison to an overly chatty airline steward, all of whom do their best to irritate ordinary travelers. With the aid of hairpieces, prosthetic devices, and their own well-honed sketch-comedy skills, Lucas and Walliams disappear into their roles--even West Indian coffee seller Precious and Mediterranean airline owner Omar. As in HBO's Extras, a few celebrities put in appearances as well, among them David Schwimmer, Anna Friel (in a bald cap), and Harry Potter's Rupert Grint. Throughout the six-episode season, stand-alone bits alternate with ongoing story lines, like the competition between catty FlyLo agents Melody and Keeley to become check-in manager, but not everything works. Bickering husband-and-wife pilots Simon and Jackie and slow-witted paparazzi Mickey and Buster seem more pathetic than amusing, but other individuals--Lucas and Walliams portray over 40--provide greater entertainment value. Extra features include promos, a photo gallery, and an insightful interview in which Lucas and Walliams talk about their 20-year relationship, their writing process, and their reasons for pulling the plug on Little Britain and starting over again with something different.
