The Golden Lemon Thyme plant is said to be the most attractive of all of the thymus family. It has bright green leaves that are ringed in yellow and it emits a startlingly citrus aroma. It is a semi-creeping plant that is perfect for hanging baskets as a companion to some bright cheery annuals, or planted along walkways and patios for a burst of color, with the added benefit of the citrus aroma. Golden Lemon Thyme is loved for its lemon scent and bright golden-edged leaves, and it is wonderful for both kitchen use and in the garden. With its little branches of tiny variegated leaves and intense bouquet, Lemon Thyme is a natural partner with any chicken dish, a perfect herb for seasoning rice and grain dishes, and it adds a lemony zing to vegetables and casseroles. It also makes delicious herb butter and is a pleasing surprise in sugar cookies and tea cakes. You can substitute Golden Lemon thyme in any dish that calls for lemon flavoring or lemon zest. Use the herb fresh from the garden or dried. Place plants in a full sun to partial sun location 12 inches apart. A normal to sandy well-draining soil is needed though this thyme survives and thrives in poor rocky soils too. Although it can grow in a range of soils, it is ironic that the richer the soil, the less flavorful the thyme. Plant will grow up to 12 inches tall and will show light pink flowers in mid-summer attracting honey bees to the garden. Harvest leaves all summer long. In the fall cover well with leaves and grass clippings to protect the plant from winter
