Annual Rye Grass Cover Crop Seed

Annual Rye grass is a great fall cover crop sown in late August to early September in the central part of the US. Earlier in the north and later in the south. Consult your extension agent for sowing dates in your area. This grass produces deep roots that will scavenge nutrients like Nitrogen for next years crop, increase soil organic matter and potentially break up hard pans in the soil. The crop dies when temperatures below freezing come or can be plowed up before producing seed.
