American Warriors Great Generals Stilwell Arnold Macarthur Marshall

In this volume, we look at four American generals and the roles they played during World War II. Joseph W. Stilwell During World War I, Stilwell was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal. During World War II, he commanded the China-Burma-India Theater. He trained and organized the Chinese Army into an efficient fighting force, and liberated Burma from the Japanese. Henry "Hap" Arnold An aviation pioneer, Arnold is widely considered the father of the modern US Air Force. He was the first and only general of the Air Force, and is also the only person to be a five-star general in two armed services. Douglas MacArthur MacArthur rose to Supreme Commander of Allied Forces in World War II. His statement, "I shall return," became the battle cry of the Pacific campaign and for the liberation of the Philippine Islands from Japanese occupation. In the Korean War, he served as commander of UN Forces. George C. Marshall Marshall, the principal military strategist of World War II, was proclaimed by Winston Churchill to be "the true organizer of victory."
