What a Tree!!! Unlike a lot of olive trees that can’t tolerate cold well, this variety is slightly more cold-tolerant. Plant them in zones 7 to 11 for the best results. As for sunlight, they’ll need a minimum of six to eight hours of bright, direct sunlight every day. The more sun they get, the better it is. The soil should drain very well between watering sessions. The tree is long-lived and drought-tolerant once established. The fruits are used for making pickled olives of several sorts, and 'Mission' is the variety most used for cold-pressed olive oil in the California olive oil industry. You can also grow olives as container plants, but they require more care and won't produce as big a crop if you are growing them primarily for the fruit. In the ground, trees can eventually reach 50 feet tall so give them enough space to grow. 'Mission' olive fruits are traditionally used for dry salt cured ripe olives and for dark ripe style or California black ripe style olives. Fruit harvest is in November for naturally black ripe olives, but some recipes call for green-ripe olives, which are usually ready in mid-September. PRICE IS FOR 1 Live Plant 8"+ In A 2 1/2" pot!!!
