Originally founded in 1630 by Puritan settlers, Boston was part of the original 13 colonies and quickly emerged as a major seaport and manufacturing hub on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean.

It also played a huge role in the American Revolution and Revolutionary War. Boston has become a symbol of American consciousness and culture over the centuries and is synonymous with so many important “firsts” in American history: 1st public park (Boston Common 1634); 1st public school (Boston Latin 1635); 1st public library (1834); 1st subway system (Tremont Street 1897); and 1st marathon (1897) among dozens of others.

Today, Boston is the economic engine and cultural hub of New England as well as the destination for more than 20 million visitors annually who are drawn to its unique and rich history; cobblestone streets and diverse neighborhoods; cultural and sporting events; prestigious higher education institutions; and modern galleries, shops, and restaurants.

The hand-drawn Boston map lithographic print is 24" x 18" unframed.
