Xeroform is used to cover and protect low to non-exudating wounds. Xeroform is an occlusive dressing that keeps air out, which helps protect the area while also promoting a moist environment for healing. Xeroform uses include protecting donor sites, lacerations, burns, abrasions, and skin graft sites. Xeroform occlusive gauze strips can be used for compression therapy or to pack wounds, and are appropriate for use with both deep and shallow wounds.
