Pete Sampras made tennis history at Wimbledon 2000 by beating Australian Pat Rafter 6-7, (10-12) 7-6, (7-5) 6-4, 6-2 to win the men's final for the seventh time and claim a record-breaking 13th Grand Slam title. The defending champion and top seed flung his arms up in delight and wiped tears from his eyes after Rafter, twice US Open champion, put another huge Sampras serve wide on the first match point on Centre Court.
