The F4U Corsair was the 1st single engine plane to reach over 400 MPH in level flight. Known as the Hog, Bent Wing, and to the Japanese, Whistling Death, this plane was just amazing. The designers wanted to use a 13 ft prop on a 2000 hp radial engine and their solution to keep the prop from hitting the ground was the bent the wings in a invert gull layout. Between the F6F and the F4u, the Japanese planes were doomed. The next war, Korea, the F4U was very effective as a bomber and fighter and was credited with shooting down a mig. We have a rare film of the F4U factory footage at Akron, as our bonus film on this DVD. We hope you will enjoy this collection. 1st Film: "F4U Factory-Changes the Win the War, Too". We digitize them in HD to save a copy for future generations. The Son went to film school and the father is passionate about history and assembles the content. The result is why folks comment on the "Quality and Content" of our OLD FILM's DVD's. Although we are not Hollywood, we think that you'll like these old historic films too.
