Visual Scientifics Hooke’s law kit is used for investigation of simple harmonic motion and the spring constant, and measures the relationship between applied force and displacement. The kit includes springs, weights, weight hanger, guide ruler attachment, mount rod, and apparatus for hands-on experiments, and has steel construction for durability. Steel is a good general-purpose material, with better weldability and increased rust resistance over wrought iron. The kit’s 24-page instructions cover three hours of class and lab time, and include a main lab, “Spring Investigation: Inquiry-Lead Activity to Learn Hooke’s Law,” and two extensions, “Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM)” and “Exploring the Spring Constant.” The instructions also contain safety information, general theory, classroom lessons, experimental set up diagrams, a student lab book, 12 Next Generation Science Standards Concepts, and 13 Common Core Standards. The kit requires the PTBASE base for operation; optional accessories include a video camera for the extension and graphing software (required and optional accessories sold separately). The loop kit is suitable for high school and college students, or ages 14 to 21. Science education products incorporate applied math and science principles into classroom and homeschool-based projects. Teachers in pre-K, elementary, and secondary classrooms use science education kits and products alongside science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) curriculum to demonstrate STEM concepts and real-world applications through hands-on activities. Science education projects include a broad range of activities, such as practical experiments in engineering, aeronautics, robotics, energy, chemistry, physics, biology, and geology. Visual Scientifics brand products, manufactured by EISCO Scientific, include lab supplies and equipment for physical science education. Founded in 1968, EISCO is headquartered in Rochester, NY, and meets International Organization of Standardization (ISO) standard 9001: 2000. What’s in the Box?
