THIS IS A PANE OF 20 STAMPS AS PICTURED. ~ February 15, 1998 in Key West, FL., the USPS commemorated the 100th anniversary of the USS Maine voyage to Havana Harbor to protect American interests from the growing conflict in Cuba. On February 15, 1898, the Maine mysteriously exploded, killing approximately 260 servicemen. This event, coupled with the yellow journalism of Joseph Pulitzer, would soon lead to the Spanish-American War.
