USA 1964 Verrazano-Narrows Bridge Plate Block of 4 Postage Stamps- Catalog No 1258

On November 21, 1964 in Staten Island, NY; the US Post Office Dept commemorated the completion of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, connecting the boroughs of Staten Island and Brooklyn in New York City at the Narrows. It is a double-decked suspension bridge with a center span of 4,260 feet. At the time of it's completion it was the longest suspension bridge in the world, and now has the eighth longest center span in the world, and is still the longest bridge span in the United States. Since 1976 it has been the starting point of the New York City Marathon.
