USA 1949 6-cent Wilbur and Orville Wright Air Mail Postage Stamp, Catalog No C45

This is a SINGLE stamp as pictured. as pictured. On December 17, 1949 in Kitty Hawk, NC; the US Post Office celebrated the 40th anniversary of the first powered flight by Wilber & Orville Wright. Orville Wright made the first flight on a craft that was engine-powered and heavier-than-air. He piloted the craft by lying in the middle of the lower wing. The craft (named the Flyer) flew 120 feet (37 meters) in 12 seconds. The brothers made three more flights that day, with Wilbur Wright completing the longest one—852 feet (260 meters)—in 59 seconds
