Prepare Before Installation:

Please prepare a Phillips screwdriver and a pair of work gloves before installation. Remove the screws first to pull the old element out to install the new one, and then put the screw back in place. Typically, you can identify burned out components by blistering or small holes in the component coils. If your element does not heat up or the surface element is not heated and the end connection is corroded, the burner surface element should be replaced.

About the smoke :

It is normal to have smoke released from the stove at the time of first use. Because each stove burners replacement leaves the factory with a layer of curing oil, when you first use the burner surface element, the heat breaks down the curing oil and releases fumes. When you use it a few more times, it won't smoke.
