This DVD features the complete match and post game celebrations. UEFA Euro 2012 Final took place on 1 July 2012 at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev, Ukraine, to determine the winner of UEFA Euro 2012. Spain successfully defended their title with a 4 0 win over Italy, becoming the first team to win two consecutive European Championships, and the first team to win three consecutive major tournaments, Euro 2008, World Cup 2010 and Euro 2012. It was the greatest margin of victory in the history of the European Championship finals. Spain coach Vicente del Bosque picked the same eleven players for the final as had played in the group match against Italy and their quarter-final against France, played ostensibly in a 4 3 3 formation. The only debate was over whether Cesc Fàbregas, a natural midfielder, would start up front, or if Del Bosque would pick one of Fernando Torres, Álvaro Negredo, Pedro Rodríguez or the as-yet unused Fernando Llorente. Italy had used a number of different line-ups throughout the tournament, brought about by both injury and suspension. However, after the first two group games, coach Cesare Prandelli appeared to develop a distinct preference for a 4 1 3 2 formation, with playmaker Andrea Pirlo occupying the deep midfield role. He also tended to favor a forward pairing of Antonio Cassano and Mario Balotelli. Midfielder Daniele De Rossi had occupied a sweeper role in the first two group games, but was later used as a left-sided attacking midfielder. Complete whistle to whistle coverage of the tactical and technical master class, some of the highest quality football ever displayed. Spain s stunning performance seals their place as one of the greatest sides in football history, as some of the best players in the world put on a sensational exhibition of the beautiful game at its very best. After the match, the Henri Delaunay Trophy was handed to the Spanish captain Iker Casillas by UEFA president Michel Platini.
