Turtle Bay Premium Bay Rum uses only pure West Indian Bay Oil (pimenta racemosa). No carrier oils to dilute the products and no synthetic fragrance oils are used. The oil is double distilled on the island of Dominica, then shipped to us to create and bottle our bay rum. Virtually no other provider uses this very expensive oil, especially now as the cost of the oil has soared, due to several devastating storms in the Caribbean over the last couple of years. Bay Rum was sold in apothecary shops and stores such as R. H. Macy’s, beginning in the closing days of the 19th century. It was a staple on the islands of the Caribbean where the ills of humid weather and insect bites were figuratively wiped away with one splash to the body. All these attributes, plus a masculine scent sans the often over-bearing strength of many colognes that are on the market today, make this product unique.
