How to Replace Your Side Mirror Glass
Tools and Materials List:Safety Glasses , Gloves, Painterâs Masking Tape, Side View Mirror
Step 1: Find Replacement Mirror
Start by finding your replacement mirror. There are two types of replacement mirrorsâ"snap-on and stick-on. This will help you determine whether the backing plate behind the glass needs to come out as well.
Step 2: Remove Old Mirror
If your replacement glass is a snap-on unit, youâll remove the old backing plateâ"and whatever bits of glass are left attached to it as a whole.
If your replacement glass is a stick-on mirror, youâll want to remove as much of the old glass as possible so that you can use double-sided tape or epoxy to attach the new mirror to the backing plate.
Step 3: Attach New Mirror
If youâre replacing a stick-on mirror, you need to paste the mirror on the back panel.
If your replacement glass is a snap-on unit,Reattach any wires you detached to the new unit and snap it into place.
Once the mirror is attached, make sure youâre able to adjust it as needed.
