The 'Dynamite' Crape Myrtle is the brightest red blooming of all Crape Myrtle varieties out there. Being native to China, this deciduous shrub is hardy, heat-loving, cold tolerable perfect for the southern United States. This shrub is a multi-stemmed, dense growing deciduous shrub with smooth peeling bark decorated with dark green foliage that turn a golden yellow orange in the fall. Clusters of showy, abundant, ruffled red flowers blooming from early July to September lasting sometimes anywhere from 3 to 4 months every blooming period. Pruning any spent flowers will prolong their flowering periods as well. Plant Approximately 5'-6'ft apart to allow growing space for future spread. Abundant blooms will only occur when allowed full sun throughout the day. Large periods of overcast weather may cause the buds of red-flowered myrtles to bloom white.
