Please try again later.panpeus1.0 out of 5 starsMany flaws for the priceJuly 19, 2012Size: 1-Pack|Verified PurchaseWhere to start....For the price point I would have expected a much higher quality product, my coworker led me on to this product however he had a much older version.The difference between them were astronomical.1st, the item I received did not match the picture, mine is a much cheaper looking knock off, not sure how that happened.2nd, as soon as I plugged in the usb into the adapter and took it out, it broke, just like that. in under 1 minute my brand new device turned to crap, the usb port is so loose and cheap it amazes me they get away with it.3rd, it drops connection consistently, if you are using hyper terminal or other similar programs (putty) you will relieve and error and have to reopen the session which is the most annoying thing in the world when trying got configure a switch or a node.Overall bad experience, product seems WAY to overpriced for the cheap piece of garbage you get for it, I would pay 5 dollars for this and be happy but 20 dollars plus I don't think so.This product is the perfect example of made in china at its finest and I would avoid it, find something cheaper and better.Read more0Comment| One person found this helpful. All of them have had spotty results, compatibility issues with various versions of Windows and MacOS. However the Keyspan USA-19HS has always worked perfectly for me, requiring no driver installation on Windows XP, 7, 8 and 8.1. Even though this unit is a little more expensive that the others, I highly recommend it.One of the cheaper adapters I purchased would only work with drivers that were designed for Windows Vista, and even though I was able to make it work by installing that driver on my Win 7 box, as soon as I unplugged it and plugged it in again, the Vista driver was automatically over-written by the Win 7 driver, and the adapter stopped working.One serial device I own (a security alarm controller) came with the recommendation to use this Keyspan adapter for USB connections, and I have found that this is completely true. No other adapter works with that device.An additional benefit of the Keyspan device is that the USB cable unplugs from the adapter itself - using a standard USB cable that can be obtained in many different lengths. The computer went the way of old electronics and we had to replace it. The weather station was working perfectly, but we couldn't get the data dowload to hold on the computer. 6 months of frustration until someone finally mentioned that perhaps the 9 pin to USB adapter was at fault. I started looking for a new adapter and found a comment from Tripp Life to email or call them to be sure to get what one needed. I emailed them and received a reply asking if they could call. I sent them my phone number and they did call and we talked about my needs. I then ordered the adapter and installed it with the driviers that were sent on a CD. I had made sure that the adapter would work with Windows 7. The weather station has been dowloading data perfectly every since I started using this adapter. I like the size and didn't want to buy a replacement but over the years I couldn't find backward compatibility with new hardware and software. For whatever reason, I did some reading up and found the latest driver supported up to Win XP. I still have an XP box but it has no COM port. Someone online suggested this adapter specifically made by Keyspan (not all adapters are created equal).It arrived, I installed the driver for the adapter and it mapped over as COM 5. I then installed the driver for the Wacom and it found COM 5. I plugged everything in and it worked just as simple as that.I do sometimes have a sampling problem.
