What is oxidization and is it permanent?
Oxidization is the process of creating a colored finish (a shiny gun-metal / blackish color) on a piece of sterling silver jewelry. It is a surface treatment used to speed up the natural tarnishing of the metal and will change over time to create a patina that is unique to each individual which can depend on several factors including body chemistry and handling. Our deep engraved studs have been first oxidized and then brushed on the face of the earring to highlight the design.
