Late, great soul singer Donny Hathaway - who died in an apparent suicide in 1979 at age 33 - began his short but stellar career arranging, writing, producing, and playing keyboards for such legends as Aretha Franklin and Curtis Mayfield. Ultimately best known for his sublime duets with Roberta Flack, including the #1 R&B singles "The Closer I Get To You" and "Where Is The Love" (the 1972 GRAMMY -winner for Best Pop Duo/Group), he also scored with solo hits like 1970's "The Ghetto-Part 1." Hathaway's two classic live albums, Live and In Performance , have, for decades, only been available as imports.
