This ready to hang, gallery-wrapped art piece features women and emaciated children gathered around a goat-like creature. Francisco Jose de Lucientes (30 March, 1746 - 16 April, 1828) was a Spanish romantic painter who marked the transition from the Old Masters to the moderns. He was court painter to the Spanish Crown and documented the Peninsular War in his masterpiece, 'Desastres de la Guerra'. The imaginative and subversive element of his art, as well as his handling of paint, stood as a model for later artists such as Manet, Picasso and Francis Bacon. Giclee (jee-clay) is an advanced printmaking process for creating high quality fine art reproductions. The attainable excellence that Giclee printmaking affords makes the reproduction virtually indistinguishable from the original piece. The result is wide acceptance of Giclee by galleries, museums and private collectors. Gallery wrap is a method of stretching an artist's canvas so that the canvas wraps around the sides and is secured a hidden, wooden frame. This method of stretching and preparing a canvas allows for a frameless presentation of the finished painting.
