THIS IS A BLOCK OF 4 STAMPS AS PICTURED. ~ On March 25, 1975 in Carmel, NY: US Post Office Department issued the first stamp in a new series "Contributors to the Cause," honoring 16-year-old Sybil Ludington. The girl rode her horse across 40 miles of countryside to rally her father's militia regiment to repel British forces at Danbury, Connecticut. The story of each person honored in this bi-centennial series is printed on the back of his or her stamp.
