The one piece design ensures better rigidity and stability while shooting in either horizontal or vertical positions. Shifting set screw fits into camera base for better stabilization of L-bracket on the camera. When moving the camera away from the side of the L-bracket, the shifting set screw will move together with the mounting screw in its own slot.
