It has a 4-Inch diameter and is 1/2-Inch deep with a 6-Cubic Inch capacity. On the bottom of the box there are three 1/2-Inch conduit knockouts and it can be used with new or old work. This particular ceiling fan box has a maximum recommended load of 35-Pound for fans and 50-Pound for fixtures and is intended for use with conduit or non-metallic sheathed cable. .
