Steel City 54151CFB-BHL-OW Pre-Galvanized Steel Octagon Ceiling Fan Support Box with Old Work Bar Hanger and 1 2-Inch Knockouts

From the Manufacturer The Steel City 54151CFB-BHL-OW is a pre-galvanized steel octagon ceiling fan support box with an old work bar hanger. It is 4-Inch in diameter and 1-1/2-Inch deep with a 15.8-Cubic-Inch capacity. On the bottom of the box there are three 1/2-Inch knockouts and a C-5 non-metallic cable clamp. The bar hanger is expandable for joists spaced from 16-Inch to 24-Inch. When the bar is at a 16-Inch span it can hold fixtures up to 200-Pound and fans up to 70-Pound, when it is at a 24-Inch span it can only hold fixtures up to 50-Pound and fans up to 35-Pound. When installing this ceiling fan support you first insert the bar hanger through and old outlet box hole in the ceiling drywall then rotate the square tube portion by hand until the end plates contact the wood joists. Continue to rotate until the end plates spurs fully contact the joists. Once the spurs are making contact with the joists the rotation will become more difficult. Next you assemble the screws through the top flange of the hanger bracket and tighten one locknut over each screw, creating a hanger bracket assembly. Once the hanger bracket assembly is created place it over the square tube portion of the hanger bar with the screws pointing downward. Then place the outlet box over the two screws and assemble one locknut over each screw on the inside of the outlet box. Make sure the locknuts are tightly fastened when done installing.
