This handmade medal of St. Joseph is meant to be worn or carried on a key ring by Realtors and their assistants. It can also be used by buyers and sellers of real estate (see the stories and instructions cited below). I designed, carved, and cast the medal myself in lead free pewter. Each medal comes in a jewelry pouch, with a split ring (see packaging photograph) so it can be attached to a key ring, and with a card stating the following: St. Joseph is the patron of real estate agents and transactions in part because he was a carpenter, a builder of houses. Other stories link the saint to real estate sales: e.g., centuries ago, German carpenters embedded medals or statues of St. Joseph in houses they were building. They noticed that the houses with the medals/statues were selling faster than those without. Thus St. Joseph became the patron saint not only of realtors and their assistants but also of buyers and sellers. Following the old German story, a person wishing to sell a house leaves a medal or statue of Joseph in the house to be sold (particularly when a prospective buyer is coming). Another tradition calls for burying a medal or statue of Joseph outside the house to be sold. On the front of this medal, which was handmade at In the Co. Of Saints, Joseph instructs his son in carpentry; on the back the father points to a finished house, one that might soon be sold. Dimensions of medal: 1 inch high x 5/8 inches wide.
