Skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora) is a perennial mesophilic herbaceous plant 15 to 50 cm high, sometimes up to 70 cm. The rhizome is creeping, thin, and branched. Stems are ascending or erect, tetrahedral, simple or branching. Leaves are opposite, simple, sessile. The corolla is blue, violet-blue or bluish-violet, sometimes pink. The time of flowering of Scutellaria lateriflora is from June to August, the fruiting time is from July to September.
