A perennial plant. Stems are erect, 30-40" (75-100 cm) high, require support. The flowers are large, bell-shaped, white, yellow, orange, pink, and red. It is used as a pot culture at home, in conservatories and garden vases, in the southern regions it can be grown outdoors. Planting instructions:  Indoor flowering maple plants can be started year-round, while outdoor plants perform best when started indoors four weeks before the last frost. Before sowing, the seeds of abutilon flowers are wrapped in a napkin and soaked for 12 hours. Soaked seeds are sown in the finished substrate: in equal parts fertile soil, sand and peat. Maintain temperatures of around 75 degrees Fahrenheit with regular, light watering. Watch for seedlings in two to three weeks. Keep the pot under cool, bright conditions out of direct sun. Water whenever the soil feels barely damp below the surface. Whether grown for indoor or outdoor use, plant must be shielded from direct sun and fluctuating temperatures when young. Keep the young plants in an area with bright, filtered light where temperatures stay around 70 F during the day and 55 F at night. Move the plants into a permanent pot or bed in spring at least one week after the last frost. Slowly acclimate the plants to direct sun. Flowering maples love moisture, so keep them well-watered during the warm, and provide them shelter against strong winds. Flowering maple plants can bloom during their first year, they most often take two years.
