The blade side would be used primarily for cutting and slicing. The knife also comes with a nylon sheath to carry on your belt. A small pouch on the sheath includes a firestarter tool. The handle is wrapped with nylon rope padding for your hand and shock absorption. It is also handy in case you need some rope in the wilderness. Our full tang knife generally allows for increased force leveraged through the handle against the resistance of material being cut by the blade. This is an advantage when used against harder materials or when the blade begins to dull.
