A counted cross stitch pattern of a servant is pouring milk from an earthenware jug into a bowl on a draped table also holding a blue-and-white pitcher, a basket containing a round loaf of break and several broken pieces of bread. A window with a broken pane casts light on the kitchen's mostly bare walls. The woman wears a white cap, yellow bodice, red skirt and a blue apron. There is a foot warmer on the floor behind her. The painting on which this pattern is based is also sometimes known as "The Milkmaid". (1658) This pattern is solidly stitched. Any color fabric may be used.
