Sancho & Lola are Rescued German Pointers who LOVE traditional bully sticks. But they can get bored. These Savory STEER Bully Sticks are perfect to change things up. Our STEER sticks are a high-protein, single ingredient (100% beef pizzle) treat that does not contain artificial flavors, grains, growth hormones or preservatives. The outer skin, usually trimmed off a traditional bully stick, is left on these steers. This adds flavor. They are then roasted in their own juices which creates an amazing taste sensation for your pup. Finicky dogs, like our Sancho, seem to like 'skin-on' bullys more than trimmed ones. These bullys may be a good fit for dogs who do not tolerate traditional ones. Traditional bullys are baked at very low temperatures to preserve moisture. This enables them to be a longer-lasting chew. However, the moisture (due to the low-temperature baking), is why they can cause tummy upset. There is misinformation online about steer being inferior to bull. This is ignorance. They are the exact same body part. Steers are bulls that have been neutered so their pizzles have less testosterone. Less testosterone= less density and more tender meat. Due to tenderness and better palatability, steer meat is actually preferred over bull meat for human consumption. Meat from a bull is tough. A higher baking temperature and less density make USA steer pizzles a different finished product than bull pizzles and thus, they should be sold as such. Steers are a delicate, savory "treat." Bully sticks are a hearty, solid "chew". Our Mantra is Pet Products with a Purpose because Sancho & Lola's Closet was founded on the belief that Every Dog Deserves a Forever Home. We have supported dog rescue and dogs since 2015.
