Tillandsia are unique and exotic plants nicknamed "Air Plants" because they lack roots and absorb water and nutrients from the air through their fleshy leaves. Tillandsia are most commonly found in South and Central America, Mexico and the Southern US. They typically grow in aird deserts, mountains, and forests. Their harsh native growing conditions means they are easy and almost carefree houseplants. Typical care involves soaking the plants in room temperature water for 10 minutes once a week and more often during the growing season or in especially dry climates. After soaking, apply fertilizer and allow to dry before putting back on display.
