Pilot Assemblies are a safety feature that detect for a pilot light to be lit before the thermocouple sends the signal to open the gas to the fire pit or fire feature. The pilot light heats up the thermocouple, as the thermocouple heats up it produces millivolts (1 - 1,000 of a volt).
