R- Strauss Don Quixote Op- 35

Herbert von Karajan's great period as an interpreter of Strauss did not begin until he had both of the great "Strauss orchestras" of his time (and ours) under his baton. With the Vienna Philharmonic, Karajan mainly took up the operas; with "his"Berlin Philharmonic, the decades in which his relationship to the orchestra was still close and warm saw him rehearse all the major symphonic poems, and the performances that followed were acclaimed worldwide as ideal.
