Our 5-7-4 Pro Fertilizer will give your bonsai an immediate boost and then maintain feeding over the course of 1-2 months.  We optimized this slow release fertilizer to specifically promote healthy and stable bonsai.  This formula is a natural based fertilizer that is beneficial to the environment and safe to use around pets (try not to feed them fertilizer). Inorganic Bonsai Soil:  Apply fertilizer in piles around bonsai pot surface.  A small bonsai with a 4”x 6” pot would receive a small pile about (4-5 pieces) 3 places around the tree toward the pot edge.  With a larger tree, larger and more piles of fertilizer will be necessary.  A tree in a 12” round pot would receive piles (10 – 15 Pieces) 2” to 3” apart.  The next application should be placed in areas between the locations of the previous application. Repeat every 30-45 days during growing season stopping 1 month prior to end of growing season.  For tropical apply every 2 months throughout the year. Organic Based Bonsai Soil:  Follow directions as listed above with the following changes.  Apply evenly over the surface of soil.  Utilize 1/8 cup for every 4” of pot size. (¼ cup for 8” pot, ½ cup for 16” pot).  Note: For proper bonsai development, you should take into consideration the status of your tree.  The proper amount of fertilizer may need to be increased or decreased depending on the goals for each tree.  Do not fertilize within 30 days after repotting your bonsai.
