Our 12-4-5 Pro Fertilizer will give your bonsai an immediate boost and then maintain feeding over the course of 1-2 months.  We optimized this slow release fertilizer to specifically promote growth and "Push" foliage to grow trunks and branches quickly while maintaining a formula that is not detrimental to the environment. Inorganic Bonsai Soil:  Apply fertilizer in piles around bonsai soil surface.  A small bonsai with a 4” x 6” pot would receive a small pile consisting of about 4-5 pieces at 3 locations on the soil surface toward the pot edge.  With a larger tree, larger and more piles of fertilizer will be necessary.  A tree in a 12” round pot would receive piles (8-13 pieces) 4 locations spaced around the pot about 3” apart.  The next application should be placed in the areas between the locations of previous applications.  Repeat every 30 -45 days during the growing season. Organic Bonsai Soil:  Follow directions as listed above with the following changes.  Apply fertilizer evenly over the soil surface.  Utilize 1/16 - 1/8 cup for every 4” of pot size.  (1/8 - ¼ cup for a 8” pot, ¼ - ½ cup for a 16” pot) Superfly bonsai produces bonsai fertilizer to work with different times of year and goals for trees.  PUSH - developing growth in pre-bonsai or when trying to thicken up trunks and branches.  MAINTAIN – maintains existing bonsai and tight internodes. When high nitrogen is not ideal. PREPARE - when nitrogen is less needed by the plant and in the fall to prepare for winter.
