St. Philomena was known as the Patroness and Protectress of the Living Rosary. Her parents converted to Christianity before she was born, She was martyred at age 13, trading her life for salvation. She is known for promoting virtues of purity and sanctity among the world’s youth .She refused to marry the Emperor because she had promised herself to Christ. Because of that, she was tortured and survived several attempts on her life. She survived the attempt to drown her by placing chains and anchors around her neck. The second attempt was by shooting her with arrows but they could not touch her. She was finally killed by cutting off her head.
