Rainbow obsidian is a type of black obsidian that when exposed to strong, bright light reveals lustrous layers. It looks like a black stone at first glance, but you will notice the band of pretty rainbow colors in the stone under strong light particularly sunlight. Silver sheen obsidian is a variety of black obsidian which has bright silvery inclusions. It is characteristically a dark brown/black obsidian filled with bright “sparkly” silver-coloured inclusions that produce a chatoyancy when viewed in strong light. Both rainbow and silver obsidians are very protective stones. This type of obsidian is said to form a shield against negativity, to absorb negative energies from the environment and to block psychic attack.
