Step 1: Run The Water Line In order to run the water line, you must make a hole behind your refrigerator with a drill. Next, drill another hole underneath the sink. Dip down into the opening and feed the line down the crawl space and then back up through the hole you made in your refrigerator. Step 2: Drain The Water Line After you have the water line running into the refrigerator, you can tap into the cold water line located under the sink but first shut-off the water valve to the entire house at the main source. IMPORTANT NOTE: With any type of plumbing project, the electric heater at the breaker should be turned off if the main water supply has been shut off as well. If your heating system is gas-powered, push the switch to the position reading “pilot”. Next, turn on a faucet to drain the remaining water from the lines. Step 3: Install The Valve Install the new valve made for the icemaker’s water line. It should be noted that there are quite a few different types of valves that could be used for this job.
